Job Summary:
The Transport and Facilities Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and operational readiness of Logix’s network transport hubs and facility infrastructure. This position is responsible for installing, provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting transport equipment, dark fiber, DWDM systems, and related network elements across hub offices, data centers, collocation sites, and customer locations. In addition to technical transport responsibilities, the role serves as a primary point of contact for building-related issues, overseeing contractor work, supporting facility maintenance, monitoring power systems and generators, and responding to alarms and emergencies in coordination with the NOC.
This position works cross-functionally with Network Engineering, Sales Engineering, Service Delivery, and other operational teams to support new installations, resolve outages, and maintain service continuity. With responsibilities spanning fiber testing, equipment installation, electrical support, inventory management, and general facility upkeep, this role is essential to maintaining secure, efficient, and high-performing network and facility operations in the Dallas market.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain and perform trouble and alarm isolation on Network Hub Switches and other network elements
- Inspect Office Batteries, Power Plants, and Emergency Generators (site walks)
- Install, maintain, and provision Transport and MUX equipment in the Network Transport Hub office and at collocation sites, Data Centers, and customer sites
- Troubleshooting abilities on Dark Fiber and DWDM Transport
- Interact with customers on new installations, disconnects, and troubleshooting
- Cable, connect, and install peripheral equipment or customer premises and Data Center equipment
- Analyze and clear customer troubles and network outages
- Place physical wiring, fiber connections, and test and accept multi-level transport facilities
- Perform General maintenance on all Network Transport Hub Equipment (i.e.: Cleaning or changing filters; changing packs; keeping the work area clean, free of hazards and dust: (sweeping and mopping floors).
- Interact with vendor personnel (AT&T, Frontier, Fiber Light, Spectrum, CenturyLink, Etc.).
- Coordinate with sales engineers, network engineers, and Service Delivery Installation Coordinators on the installation of cabinets, power, and hardware as needed for datacenter customers
- Assist other Logix departments with office requirements including but not limited to Field Services, Provisioning, NOC, Voice Operations, IPENG, Network Engineering and Central Office Technicians
- Acts as the primary contact for any building issues, emergencies, and repairs
- Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed in Logix facilities according to specifications
- Assists with maintaining building security and works with the NOC to immediately respond to building emergencies and alarms on a 24/7 basis
- Assists the Facilities management in preparing the annual maintenance budget
- Performs basic electrical work and determines when an electrical contractor is required
- Transport of goods or equipment to various sites assigned
- Performs various other maintenance duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED (preferred college degree in telecommunications)
- 3 years of Telecommunications Facilities sites, Network Transport switching and Fiber installation experience
- 1 year of computer experience, including data entry and database manipulation
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate by typing, reading, talking, and listening effectively. The employee will be required to work for extended periods of time at a desk on a computer and must be able to maneuver through office spaces as needed. They must have the ability to lift up to 50lbs. Accommodation will be provided as necessary to ensure all employees can fulfill their job responsibilities effectively.
- Maintain forty (40) hours per week performance level, plus additional overtime hours as the job requires. Some shift work may be occasionally required.
