Q & A with Jeff Danielson
On Logix
Q: Can you briefly walk us through your professional journey?
Jeff: Sure. I’ve spent virtually my whole career working in telecoms and digital infrastructure. I started in IT consulting for the telecom industry then moved into mobile with Nextel and Sprint. Eventually, my focus shifted to fiber and B2B connectivity at Sprint, T-Mobile, and Cogent. I came out of retirement for a great opportunity at Comcast and now have the privilege to work at Logix Fiber Networks. Throughout, I’ve held a variety of roles mostly on the network and operations sides of the business, but I’ve worn a lot of hats based on business needs.
Q: What attracted you to join Logix Fiber Networks?
Jeff: The people and the opportunity to focus on fiber customers in Texas. Logix has been serving business customers in Texas for 40 years, and I’d love to be a part of seeing that continue and grow. Digital infrastructure is also booming in Texas, and that’s an exciting opportunity.Q: How do you see your role contributing to Logix’s long-term strategy?
Jeff: My role is really about enabling execution and data-driven decision making. If done well, this means Logix is exceeding our customers’ expectations, operating efficiently, and growing our footprint. All of that is key to Logix being the preferred provider for businesses in Texas.
On Leadership
Q: What’s one leadership lesson that has stuck with you throughout your career?
Jeff: Focus on building the best team you can. That always pays dividends.
Q: What trends or technologies are you most excited about right now?
Jeff: Culturally, I’m interested in how AI is and will affect our personal and professional lives. It certainly feels like it will end up reshaping how we engage with the world much like the Internet and smartphones have. It is also the latest demand driver following cloud workloads, high-def imaging, and all sorts of OTT consumption that continue to push the need for more bandwidth and more fiber for those of us on the infrastructure side.
Q: What separates a good enterprise tech partner from a great one?
Jeff: Focus. I believe you are at your best when you know your customers, know your market, and build a business around both. For us, that is Texas businesses in need of reliable, fiber-based connectivity at a fair price. Simple as that.
On Texas
Q: What does being part of a Texas-based company mean to you?
Jeff: When I think of Texas business leaders, I think of integrity and a strong work ethic. Growing up, one of my father figures was a Dallas-based lawyer who had a big influence on me. He helped shape my sense of responsibility and what it means to do things the right way. Those lessons have stayed with me and continue to guide how I lead -- and I'm proud to see a lot of those same qualities at Logix.
Q: What advice would you give to Texas-based businesses preparing for the next wave
of digital transformation?
Jeff: Think about the practical applications for your business and keep your focus there. There will always be hype about new capabilities, but they must tie back to your use case and what your business needs. Thinking through that, sometimes with trusted partners, will lead to good business decisions and prepare you for whatever transformation path you select.Q: Do you have a favorite BBQ joint, coffee shop, or hidden gem in Texas?
Jeff: Blood Brothers in Bellaire outside of Houston. It’s legit Texas BBQ with some interesting Asian twists.
